3.14 You Bet Your Lucky Stars

Screenshot-382

Screenshot-381

Screenshot-382

Screenshot-391

Yup, It’s Lucky Palms. Endless heat, endless desert, and no more snow!

Screenshot-395

Jessamine and Otto move into a premade house to begin their new lives. Jessamine has proudly joined the Military, though her true lifetime wish revolves around developing a vast social circle.

Screenshot-400

Of course, they dragged Hugh with them – what would the Slender Legacy be without their faithful biographer?…even though these days he seems to be developing a vast variety of interests. I decided a while ago to try to have Hugh master every skill available before the Legacy ended and make him a true jack-of-all-trades.

Screenshot-411

More importantly, with a total of three Sims in the household, it’s finally quiet…Save for Dark Wave music coming from Otto’s room.

Screenshot-438

Screenshot-443

In addition to being biographer, Hugh has become their unofficial cook.

Screenshot-461

Screenshot-465

Screenshot-466

Screenshot-468

And Otto’s restless pranks continue. Looks like being separated from the rest of the family hasn’t diminished that rebellious streak she’s got going for her.

Screenshot-475

She’s still tagging walls, by the way – but this time, it isn’t public property.

Screenshot-499

Lucky Palms is quickly becoming one of my favourite towns. It has a pleasant, laid back atmosphere and it’s definitely a nice change of scenery from the cold mountains surrounding Moonlight Falls.

Screenshot-500

Jessamine seems to prefer reading by the pool.

Screenshot-502

But Otto and Hugh chat it up in the hot tub. I think Hugh’s more relieved that I’m not sticking him in a basement.

Screenshot-515

Screenshot-516

Screenshot-517

Overall, I think Otto’s a lot happier.

Screenshot-450

Screenshot-457

Just to make sure that the Legacy goes to plan…I move my Simself across the road from them.

Now I have an agent planted. Time to wreck havoc!

3.13 Jessamine the Young Adult

Screenshot-3

Otto’s life isn’t going all that great right now. She can’t go a week in-game without getting grounded for something, be it spray-painting every wall she can find, skipping school, or generally just being a loudmouth teenager. Neither of her parents are really pleased with her preoccupation with not paying attention in class.

Screenshot-9

She blames Al for being a lot of cause for her unhappiness.

He is a jerk, after all.

Screenshot-8

Of course, unhappiness leads to acting out. It all tends to be a bit of a cascading effect.

Fortunately I have a solution for our heir.

0000

Screenshot-336

Jessamine has aged up into a Young Adult, armed with the traits Snob, Athletic, Computer Whiz, Diva, and Can’t Stand Art. University isn’t really her cup of tea – she’d much rather just jump right into a career.

Screenshot-338

Screenshot-340

But Jessamine’s aspirations lie beyond sleepy Moonlight Falls. The fact of the matter is, aside from glitching like crazy, the greyish hue and conservative Supernaturals in every house just don’t suit her tastes. She has bigger dreams in mind – and that involves packing up and moving to a more current, vibrant location.

A lot of Supernaturals don’t care for Muggles, but Jessamine has always been fascinated by them. (She is related to quite a few, including her parents.) So she could probably pull off living among them.

Screenshot-345

Screenshot-350

Screenshot-352

Louis and Pierette understand this need for independence from their hefty lineage. It’s time for the Legacy to move beyond Moonlight Falls.

Screenshot-357

Jessamine doesn’t get far, however.

Screenshot-365

I haven’t had a lot of time to really go in-depth with University on account of many of my Sims simply not being the right age/not skilled enough. The honour of being the first Sim to get to Uni is Otto, and she fortunately qualifies for an scholarship.

Still, Otto realizes that in order to truly succeed at University, she’s going to have to up those grades. Not an easy thing to do when your Evil, Mean-Spirited brother is constantly looking over your shoulder. The family house seems crowded and volatile, but Jessamine’s decision to leave the town behind might just be the opportunity she’s looking for.

Screenshot-375

Simply put, Otto says to her cousin: “I’m coming with you.”

3.12 Otto the Teenager

Screenshot-26

Here’s how Otto spent her first few days as a teenager.

Screenshot-44

1.) Received present from Hugh.

Screenshot-56

2.) Used present to express inner artist.

Screenshot-105

3.) Held a protest.

Screenshot-130

4.) Successful protest.

Screenshot-183

5.) Went to the beach to enjoy the scenery.

Screenshot-185

…And improve it.

Screenshot-215

6.) Party time!

Screenshot-301

7.) First kiss.

Screenshot-308

8.) Got yelled at for initiating first kiss.

Screenshot-295

9.) More partying!

Screenshot-324

10.) Cops showed up.

Screenshot-137

11.) Parents showed up.

Screenshot-141

13.) Scolded after parents showed up.

…And the fun is just beginning.

ooooo

BONUS!

Screenshot-221

No one seemed to notice/care that Al was passed out in the kitchen.

Screenshot-220

And Jackson is turning into mega nerd.

3.11 The Mysterious Aging Up of Ottoline Slender

Screenshot-5

Screenshot-4

Cadmus smiled. It was the end of a long day.

It had been a joint birthday. Both Jackson and Ottoline had finally reached their adolescence and there were four teenagers roaming around the house, though for the moment it was suspiciously quiet save for the unusual creak and groan of the weathered floor boards. Two cakes nestled comfortably in the refrigerator and, at last, it was just him and his wife.

‘Well, another birthday come and gone,’ he sighed. ‘That wasn’t too bad, was it?’

‘I wish Al had lightened up a little.’

‘Oh, he was fine. He didn’t even pick a fight with Otto.’

‘She has gotten…taller, hasn’t see?’

‘Yes, all the better. Maybe now that they’re both older they’ll stop bickering. It could be worse! In a view years we’ll be seeing them off to college.’

Screenshot-3

Screenshot-7

Fawn rose to her feet.

‘Do you think Otto’s…different?’ Fawn asked.

‘That’s a silly question, dear,’ Cadmus chuckled. ‘They’re all different. Do you remember our shock when Al grew up?’

‘He didn’t change this much.’

‘She’s our little girl, Fawn, and she always will be.’

‘I just don’t know that I like this new Otto…’

‘She’s a teenager. Let her experiment! It’ll be good experience.’

‘I’m just wondering how long this will last.’

‘You’re making a big deal out of nothing.’

‘But…but it’s just that she was just an adorable little girl – she was always so sweet and innocent. I don’t know if being a teenager suits her.’

‘Fawn, she’s our daughter, and I think she looks beautiful.’

Screenshot-14

Screenshot-16

Screenshot-20

Cadmus frowned. ‘Please tell me that wasn’t our daughter who just walked through the kitchen.’

Fawn folded her arms dismissively. ‘I’ll find out where she’d hiding the black mascara if you find the hair dye.’

3.10 It’s Too Easy

Screenshot-298

The weekend before Otto is due to age up, she finds herself so engrossed in painting that she doesn’t immediately hear her father calling her name.

‘What is it, Dad?’ Otto groaned. If Algernon had pinned something else on her…

‘I asked if you’re done your homework.’

‘Well…no.’

‘Get it done.’

Otto groaned and reluctantly stepped away from the canvas. She didn’t have time for homework! This was way more important! She was in the middle of an artistic breakthrough and she wanted to explore it before she went insane!

However, she instead found herself trudging over to the living room to search for her homework. As she approached, she saw her uncle Louis and Jackson sitting at the table.

Screenshot-230

Screenshot-232

‘Do you need help, Jackson?’ Louis was asking.

‘No, I think I got it,’ Jackson said. He was probably the only person in the house who actually did his homework on time. He was on the Honour Roll – the model student, not like Otto, who was in a constant fret about when and where she was going to get homework done on account of having to hide from Algernon so often.

Just like that, Jackson shut the book. ‘Okay, I’m done. Can we go play ball now?’

‘Of course! Just go easy on your old man! I’m not as young as I used to be.’

Screenshot-240

Otto waited until they had left before passing through. Jackson’s homework was left unattended at the table.

Screenshot-277

She and Jackson were in the same class. He always had everything done on time and he was pretty smart. Sometimes he even let her cheat off his test. Otto thought longingly of the canvas waiting for her in the other room.

Screenshot-278

Screenshot-288

Copying was just too easy.

3.9 Having Family Is Hazardous to Your Health

Screenshot-362

‘Do you have any siblings, Hugh?’ Otto asked.

‘No, I’m an only child,’ said Hugh. ‘I always wanted a brother or sister, though. I always thought it sounded like good fun.’

‘In theory…’

‘Problems with Al again?’

Screenshot-363

‘Yeah, you could say that…’

Screenshot-192

‘…I would’ve though that when he’d get older he’d get a bit…nicer. Boy was I stupid.’

ooooo

Screenshot-307

Screenshot-308

Screenshot-313

This is what Otto got for just trying to cut through the living room to try to get to the kitchen. As usual, Al was waiting. Though their parents tried to contain the fights to playful banters at the dinner table, their efforts had all but failed. What was worse was that Al became increasingly bold, not even caring when one of the adults was present.

Wherever Otto tried to step, Al sidestepped to block her path.

‘Get out of my way, Algernon!’ Otto demanded.

‘Twenty bucks,’ Algernon demanded.

‘Do I look like I have twenty bucks, butthead?!’

‘You’re not gonna have a face anymore if you don’t pay up!’

‘Knock it off, you two!’ Pierette called, not taking her eyes off the screen.

Screenshot-348

‘You heard Aunt Pierette, Algernon!’ snapped Otto. ‘Move it!’

She was feeling abnormally bolt with Pierette around, so she kicked him in the knee.

That only made him angry.

‘You can do that do me!’ Algernon shouted.

‘I can do whatever I want!’

‘Why you little fairy – !’

Screenshot-315

Screenshot-324

Screenshot-328

Al triumphantly loomed over her.

‘I win again!’ he announced.

‘That’s because you’re bigger, Algernon!’

Screenshot-330

‘For God’s sake!’ Pierette stormed over. ‘Can’t you two go one day without trying to beat the crap out of each other?! You’re making your dad and your uncle Robin seem like BFFs!’

‘But he – ,’ Otto started.

‘I don’t care who started it! I’m ending it! Go stand in the corner!’

Screenshot-340

Pierette cracked her knuckles. ‘And they told me this parenting thing would be hard…’

Otto glowered at Al out of the corner of his eye, and he only met the gaze with disdain.

3.8 Used To Be Simple

It was early morning, and Otto was preparing for the usual berating.

Her parents were upstairs, sound asleep, which meant that couldn’t protect her. Her camera was conveniently out of reach so she couldn’t get photographic evidence. And this had started out as such a beautiful day…up until Al entered the kitchen.

Screenshot-42

‘Hey, butthead!’ Al hollered. ‘You done my homework yet?! It’s due today, you know! I want it before the bus comes!’

‘…No…’ Otto admitted.

‘Well, you better get on it or I’ll give you another swirlie! And get me breakfast while you’re at it!’

Screenshot-49

‘I can’t do your homework and get you breakfast at the same time!’ exclaimed Otto.

‘You could if you were awesome like me!’

‘Screw off, Algernon! I can’t work with all this noise! Why do I have to do your homework, anyways?!’

‘Because I said so!’

Screenshot-50

‘I hate you so much…’ Otto moaned.

‘Think of this as practice for being my slave when we’re grown up! I’m going to rule the known world, you know!’

‘Anyone who’d make you king has to be stupid!’

‘Like you?’

‘Shut up!’

Screenshot-56

‘I don’t need to shut up!’ shouted Al, jumping on his chair. ‘Once I’m king, nobody’s gonna tell me to shut up! Are you done my homework yet?’

‘No! Stop asking me that!’

It was then that Otto got lucky. Jessamine walked into the room. She normally made a point to ignore the two when they were fighting, but she suddenly made a beeline right for them and violently tugged Al off of the chair.

Screenshot-64

‘Are you making Otto do your homework?!’ demanded Jessamine.

‘No! And I’m down here!’

‘You can’t make Otto do your homework!’

‘Why not? I can make people do whatever I want them to do! Besides, this ain’t none of your business!’

‘I’m so going to tell Aunt Fawn!’

Screenshot-133

‘Dude, is that a llama?’ Al looked up in wonder.

Screenshot-134

Screenshot-135

‘My bad!’ Al laughed cruelly. ‘That’s actually a good look for you!’

Otto groaned and slammed her head against the breakfast table. One of these days she’d think of a way to get back at him.

3.4 Perfect Strangers

Screenshot-227

Screenshot-235

Otto has made an unusual friend in the form of Hugh Spengler.

Screenshot-167

She finds him incredibly cool – for a Nerd. Hugh has been climbing the later in the social group due to his basement dwelling habits, preoccupation with video games, and an obsession with science. Otto is still too young to partake in any social groups comfortably. What she’ll be when she’s older remains to be seen, but her relationship with Hugh is stronger than any previous Slender to live in the household.

Screenshot-251

Screenshot-259

But when he gets into his rants about mathematics, Otto finds it’s safer to just tune it out.

3.3 Algernon Is A Jerk

It is the opinion of this Simmer that Algernon is possibly the biggest jerk to grace my Sims 3 experience.

Screenshot-19

For Otto, the transition to childhood does not come smoothly.

Screenshot-20

Screenshot-21

Screenshot-24

And Algernon is there every step of the way to make sure it stays that way.

Screenshot-27

She finds ways to cope, though. She creates an Imaginary Friend named Tenet, who seems gleefully unaware of her surroundings, but is perfectly willing to listen to Otto’s rants.

Screenshot-136

She discovers the joy of the internet.

Screenshot-153

She learns to paint.

Screenshot-180

More importantly, he learns how to steal toys from game machines.

Screenshot-118

She even likes homework.

Screenshot-59

But of course, whenever she can find a moment’s peace, Algernon storms up and declares war. Otto is more than happy to oblige. She avoids Algernon when she can, but when he’s in her sight, she can’t help but fight back. Otto grew up with the “Party Animal” trait and her mind is a place of chaos and excitement.

Screenshot-71

Screenshot-79

Loosing never helps.

Screenshot-83

Neither do her parents, who have made it their priorities in life to try to keep them separated.

Screenshot-92

But even a timeout doesn’t seem to help. It just gives Otto a moment or two to simmer.

3.2 Ottoline and Algernon

Screenshot-90

When Algernon became a child, a true fairy spirit started to sprout. He always was trying to get the better of everyone, and it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise with the traits Snob, Loves the Cold, and Evil.

Screenshot-91

Pierette was always on to him, though.

Screenshot-101

Ottoline’s first memory, however, is not of Algernon – but of playing with her xylophone, a simple pleasure she later sought to capture.

Screenshot-73

It’s her next memory that sets the stage for things to come.

Screenshot-78

Ottoline knew from the moment Algernon ripped candy out of her hand…that it was war.
